Amiibo (stylized as amiibo) is a NFC-based platform developed by Nintendo. The platform allows compatible figurines to link with video games on Nintendo's Wii U console through the Wii U GamePad, allowing two-way transfer of data into and out of a game. A separate NFC platform is also planned to be available for supporting Amiibo figurines on the Nintendo 3DS. The system was officially unveiled on June 10, 2014 as part of Nintendo's E3 presentation; Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be among the first games to support the platform; character figurines can store statistics and custom move sets that can be used in-game.  Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be compatible with Amiibo.
